Welcome to Leicester Forest East Community Library

As part of their effort to reduce operational expenditure, Leicestershire County Council (LCC) had to make some decisions about reducing their budgets and one area was Library services.

Following pilot trials which went on to become successful ventures in other parts of the UK, LCC took the decision to ask for a Community Group to come forward and volunteer to take over the running of the Library services within the Parish of Leicester Forest East.

In February 2015 a group of residents met at the Library and we decided to submit an Outline Business Plan to the LCC.  A month or so later, we were awarded Category 1 status to move into the next stage.

As of September 2015, we applied for a CIO Charitable status with the Charities Commission. We have created a 7-year business plan and soon will be in a position to sign a Service Contract and Building Lease for a 10-year contract.

The CIO will provide Library services and other community services to the Parish and every year we will hold an AGM for which you are invited.  Dates will be made known soon.

We would like to thank Voluntary Action Leicestershire and the Leicestershire County Council for their continued support.
